On Dec 10, the Hanoi City Council elected 5 vice-chairmen of the City People’s Committee for the 2016-2021 term.
Notably, 5 vice-presidents in the previous term of Hanoi were transferred or dismissed.
Specifically, the City People’s Council removed Mr. Nguyen Van Suu, Nguyen The Hung, Nguyen Quoc Hung, Ngo Van Quy, and Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan from the position vice chairman. The last one was assigned by the Standing Committee of Hanoi City Party Committee to hold the position of Head of the Mobilization committee.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, Mr. Ha Minh Hai, and Mr. Duong Duc Tuan were elected as vice chairman of the City People’s Committee.

This article reads: “At the 17th Congress of the Party Committee of Hanoi City for the 2020-2025 term, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen was elected to the Executive Committee of the City Party Committee. This caused a stir in public opinion as Mr. Quyen has violated the standards and criteria of the party members.”
But until today, the Front page has deleted this post.
In September 2019, the Hanoi City Party Committee Inspection Committee said that it was conducting a review of individuals and collectives related to the case of Nguyen Manh Quyen’s mother and sister, Director of Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment, illegally allocated land in Quoc Oai District, Hanoi.
This case involved Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen’s family members who were illegally assigned land in Quoc Oai during the time he was the party district secretary and the chairman of the District People’s Committee.

In September 2020, after Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was disciplined and arrested, the Politburo assigned Minister Chu Ngoc Anh to be the chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
