After arresting two officials of the Advanced International Company (AIC): former Chief Accountant Do Van Son and Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong – former Head of the Financial Secretary Department of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan – on August 30, the Vietnamese Supreme People’s Procuracy issued an indictment of the case “Violation of regulations on bidding, causing serious consequences” occurred at Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital, and prosecuted Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan.

Ms. Nhan’s accusation is related to the balance of power between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the alliance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong-To Lam and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue. On August 31, in Dan Tri newspaper, the Ministry of Public Security called on Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan to turn herself in. According to the ministry, “if she continues to flee, the procedural agencies will consider that as giving up the right to defend themselves and be prosecuted and tried in accordance with the law.” Perhaps this is the way most likely now, because both the kidnapping and extradition of Ms. Nhan to the current Communist Government is very difficult, if not impossible.
Only about 2 years left until the “final” after a competitive term will also come. If there is Mrs. Nhan in hand, maybe the trio group will end the match soon, to clear the way for Vuong Dinh Hue to become next party chief. Although Hue is supported by incumbent General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, PM Chinh cannot be underestimated, because the government leader is famous for being patient, observing and taking action at the right time.
