On Wednesday (February 5, 2020), Mr. František Ružička, state secretary of Slovakia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, summoned Vietnamese Ambassador in Slovakia Duong Trong Minh. On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčák, Secretary František Ružička informed the Vietnamese ambassador that Slovakia Republic is not welcomed a Vietnamese diplomat based in Bratislava and this Vietnamese official must leave Slovakia within 48 hours.

The move was by Slovakia’s authorities made after Germany’s Federal Court of Justice issues final decision on the case of Vietnam’s abduction of Trinh Xuan Thanh in Berlin.

Finally, Mr. F. Ruzicka said his country is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation based on mutuan interest, seriousness and respect of international law.

This is the first consequence for Vietnam after after Germany’s Federal Court of Justice issued its final decision on Trinh Xuan Thanh’s kidnap (Conviction of Nguyen Hai Long for involving in the abduction).

Trinh Xuan Thanh was said to be taken out of the EU by the charter flight of the Slovakian government lent to Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security To Lam.
