Since the internal struggling for influence in politics 15 years ago, from the time when Nguyen Phu Trong and Nguyen Tan Dung no longer accepted each other but sought to eliminate each other in politics. The time passed, enough for everyone to see that. The fight against corruption has not gone anywhere. Why is that?
Holding the entire government, then Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung was accused of being the weakest government leader ever. Compared to before, no Prime Minister had caused a series of losses in major state-owned corporations like his leadership.
In the midst of Vietnam having a Prime Minister destroying the country’s economy, there appeared a General Secretary who fiercely opposed that cabinet leader. Naturally, Nguyen Tan Dung was considered the “evil faction” and those who opposed him were considered “righteous” by most.
In the 2011-2026 term, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong allied with State President Truong Tan Sang and tightened relations with China to remove the Prime Minister from the political arena. At that time, many public opinions expected Nguyen Phu Trong to be a “wise king” because they believed that if he did not do it, no one could do it.
As a result, Nguyen Phu Trong removed Nguyen Tan Dung from the political arena. The latter left politics, Nguyen Xuan Phuc took over. However, Nguyen Xuan Phuc was not clean either. The Rescue Flight and Viet A cases exposed a government that so corrupt. They were heartless and took advantage of the suffering of their compatriots. Regardless of the possibility of cross-infection, they forced people to pick their noses to make money for their backroom associates. Never before had a government been disciplined and imprisoned, including the PM, Deputy PMs and ministers. Countless deputy ministers went to prison.
During Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s time, the level of filthiness of the central leadership was exposed to the public for everyone to see. They corrupted everything from the people. However, this corrupt government was not dealt with immediately, but the Party let them feast until they were full before dealing with it later. So, is the Party dealing with corruption for the people? The answer is no. They dealt with corruption as political struggling and certainly, the Government would not be cleaner.
Then came the post-Nguyen Xuan Phuc era. A seemingly “gentle” person like State President Vo Van Thuong also had a backyard to exploit economic benefits for himself. Quietly, silently, not directly controlling the country’s economy, but with the great power of a Politburo member, not taking advantage of it to make money is a loss. Even if someone is “gentle” like Vo Van Thuong, the backyard will still grow tentacles to dig into the Vietnamese economy for personal gain.
Then National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also nurtured a backyard, so that To Lam could use it to destroy him. Almost no one holds great power without creating a backyard to turn their power into money. This country is a swarm of worms, on the surface there are leaders who look “devoted” and “responsible” to the people but behind it is a whole destructive machine. How can this country still have a chance to develop?
Then a new General Secretary replaced Nguyen Phu Trong. To Lam loudly shouted the slogan “the era of rising up.” However, behind him is a huge backyard that is turning his political power into the property of his family. An old model cannot make the country rise up.
It has been 15 years since the Communist Party split into two factions of party lceader Nguyen Phu Trong and government leader Nguyen Tan Dung, now the Communist Party is emerging with many factions.
Reality shows that cleaning up the Party and the State is just a plan, their goal is not for the people and the country but for the interests of their factions.
