Trial of Thai Van Duong: criminals to judge their victim!

After 18 months of kidnapping Duong Van Thai (aka blogger Thai Van Duong) from Thailand, the Communist authorities have now completed the case file and are preparing to bring him to trial.

According to information, the above trial will take place on October 30. Thai is currently being detained at the B14 Detention Center of the Ministry of Public Security, in Hanoi. Notably, the court did not invite his family members to attend the trial.

Mr. Thai is considered the third case that To Lam kidnapped and brought back to Vietnam for trial. The first case was Trinh Xuan Thanh, kidnapped in Berlin, Germany. The second case was journalist Truong Duy Nhat, kidnapped in Thailand.

This trial, like many other trials for dissidents, will not have democracy in the litigation. Defense lawyers are accepted as a legal procedure, and their role in exonerating the defendant is almost zero. This will also be a trial in which sentences are fixed.

Mr. Thai will have no hope of receiving a light sentence, or a reduced sentence. Because the heavy sentence for those who dare to expose the “rot” of the regime is the way the authorities use to deter all those who intend to speak out, to expose their evils.

Kidnapping is illegal, not only violating Thai law, but also Vietnamese law, which considers kidnapping a crime. However, this regime only uses the law as a tool to punish according to the will of the authorities, and does not consider the law as the highest standard that any government, as well as the people, must obey.

With such rampant law-abusing behavior, the Communist government is a giant criminal organization, but there is no law that can punish them. The reason is that since gaining the right to rule the country, the regime has always been above the law. Their party rule is also placed above the Constitution and national law.

The upcoming trial on October 30 will be another trial, where the criminal side (ie the government – the one who kidnapped Duong Van Thai) sits in the judge’s chair, to judge their victim. That is a tragedy for a nation. Not only the trial of Thai, but also the trials of other dissidents, are similar.

It is known that Duong Van Thai’s family has hired two lawyers Le Dinh Viet and Le Van Luan provide legal support for him. But up to now, both lawyers have not been licensed to participate in the case, and have not been able to access the documents, nor meet their clients, to prepare for the trial. This is how the so-called “democratic state is ten thousand times more democratic than capitalist countries,” showing the world how “democratic” they are.

Before being arrested, Duong Van Thai was famous for reporting on corruption and internal conflicts in the Vietnamese government. Thai also had an internal source of information to exploit, which was very valuable, and few people had it. It was what he said that exposed an entire regime, so they hated him and were determined to silence him.

In essence, the Communist Party is a giant criminal organization, so when it acts to protect its interests, it will also act like a criminal organization.

To Lam ordered agents to illegally kidnap Thai in Thailand, then brought him back to Vietnam, across the border with Laos in Ha Tinh province. Then, the authorities announced that they had arrested him, when he “illegally entered” Vietnamese territory. This is the act of “putting fire in someone else’s hand” of the so-called state “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
