The outbreak of protests in Nepal originated from the government’s blocking of social platforms. The government wants to control the people by stifling their free voices.
The Gen Z youth are the main factor in the uprising against the government. Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli had to resign after the police force failed to block the protesters under his order.
Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of the people. Why do democratic countries progress? Why is their state stable? Because they follow the freedom of the people and develop a suitable political system. That is what history has proven. There is no country where dictatorship bans social media platforms can develop sustainably.
Currently, Vietnam’s communist government is implementing a policy of stifling dissenting voices by controlling social platforms. This is a sophisticated form of suffocating people’s freedom of speech. However, when people’s intelligence develops, no matter how sophisticated the suffocation is, it will be resisted. Once people are awakened, no force can suppress it.
The development of the country depends on the strength of the people. Freedom of speech must be restored so that people have the right to reflect negativity, from which society can become better. If Communist government continues to maintain tight control over freedom of speech, then one day the regime will have to pay the high price.
The development of human society is a process from dictatorship to democracy, which cannot be reversed.
