Lawyer has just revealed: Mr. Hieu and Mr. Chuc were injured but still alive
Two lawyers on March 3 said Bui Viet Hieu and Le Dinh Chuc were “still alive” and suffering some injuries after being arrested in the raid by Vietnam’s police force in Dong Tam commune in early January.
Hieu and Chuc and 20 others were arrested by police on Jan 9 and four days later charged with “murder.” Meanwhile, activists see the incident as a “very big crime” of the authorities in Hanoi.
The land dispute close to Mieu Mon airport between the people of Dong Tam and the government has been fierce since 2017, culminating in the raid nearly two months ago.
In this case, 84-year-old farmer leader Le Dinh Kinh was killed when a mobile police raided before dawn to enter his homes of his grandchildren and surrounding children.
Three policemen were reportedly killed in the case, and authorities accused Mr. Kinh’s children and grandchildren of burning them when they fell into a “skylight well” during the raid.
Lawyer Ha Huy Son said on March 3 that Hieu, who is considered the No. 2 character after leader Le Dinh Kinh, is still alive and has several injuries.
“I met Mr. Hieu during an interrogation session with investigators. Mr. Hieu said that since his detention, he has not been beaten or tortured,” Son said.
Hieu, 77, said in January he underwent three surgeries because of a duodenal perforation, a colon rupture and a metatarsal fracture, and he is currently wearing an artificial anal bag, according to lawyer Son.
More than 20 suspects, including Mr. Hieu, were charged with murder, illegal possession of weapons and objection against on-duty officials, lawyer Son said. However, at the current stage, it is not clear how the authorities will impose specific terms and penalties for the defendants, according to the lawyer.
When asked whether the injuries were caused by bullets or other causes, the lawyer replied that he could not provide information because the case was still in the investigation phase. Mr. Son added that he was “invited” by Hieu’s daughter to defend him
.
Regarding the other two suspects, Le Dinh Kinh’s sons, lawyer Le Van Hoa on March 3 informed their families that Chuc “still lives, not died as rumored,” and Mr. Cong does not. There is something wrong with our physical and mental clarity.
Writing on his personal Facebook, Mr. Hoa said he also attended the Hanoi police with the two suspects and their families could take a breath.
However, Mr. Hoa said that Mr. Chuc had a “broken head” in the early morning raid and this wound caused the “sometimes remembered and forgotten” phenomenon and the left half “was still paralyzed.”
Despite this, Mr. Chuc said that hemiplegia was “getting better,” lawyer Hoa recounted on his personal page.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Dinh Cong walks and has a “normal” memory, in addition, the dark spots on his face that can be seen in the “confession” video that VTV last afternoon “have gone,” the lawyer said.
Phuong said Duong Noi ward sent an invitation to “work on his Facebook account,” with participants mostly people from the boards of Duong Noi ward.
“However, I refused to go to work; because I learned from one experience before, I was also invited to the police station. There were many, from the chairman of the ward and the police officer, they stood around denouncing me, they used insults, insults, humiliating my parents, my family … In general, they put great mental pressure on me. I was worried that they could shoot and then trim the video, then put it on TV to accuse me.”
After that, also according to Mr. Phuong, four security officers directly invited him to work. Mr. Phuong answered that he did not have time and that if the authorities saw that he had violated something, give a summons, clearly stating what he was violating as well as any legal basis to summon him.
“Also related to my personal Facebook account, in 2016, the Hanoi Police Department summoned me several times, but I did not go up. This time, after the incident in Dong Tam on January 9 , the police have continuously increased threats, harassment, slander and arbitrarily accused me,” Mr. Phuong said.
On Feb 19, 2020, the ANTV channel (the People’s Public Television channel whose main agency is the Communications Department, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam) also posted on this website its video titled “Nature” of “50K fund.”
The 50K Fund was established by Ms. Hanh on April 30, 2018, with the original purpose of calling people in the community to contribute, even if only VND50,000, to the fund to pay lawyer fees to social activists. After that, the fund was continued to help prisoners of conscience and their relatives.
However, in the above article, ANTV alleges that “‘The 50k fund’ is run by Nguyen Thuy Hanh, one of the self-proclaimed” democracy activists “launched with the purpose of sponsoring objects of activities against the Party and the State having been arrested and punished.”
Then, on February 21, ANTV again posted the video “Trick to raise money, provoking trouble in Dong Tam“, which confirmed,” after a complicated incident happened in Dong Tam commune, My Duc district, in Hanoi, the reactionary subjects have thoroughly taken advantage of propaganda, inciting and raising funds to call for Le Dinh Kinh to support them in the name of a donation … VND528 million, which is the amount that Nguyen Thuy Hanh has collected from domestic and foreign individuals after 3 days.
“They gave a group of police officers, 4 people on one day, 5 or 5 people, almost kept me in the house for a while and didn’t let me go. Then they took me on TV and misrepresented me. But I’m not surprised because I think they are very bitter to me, “Hanh said.
Talking about the press conclusions as well as the ANTV about raising money for Kinh’s family, as well as the 50k fund, Ms. Hanh emphasized:
“I just go to collect small change, from ordinary workers, genuine laborers to help the prisoners. And who have these people been to jail already? I declare myself that each coin, sender’s name, recipient’s name, and all are public and transparent. So I don’t know where terrorist financing or provocation is.”
Mr. Phuong said that, despite threats or harassment, he is not afraid:
“Until now, I have been sent to the police station about 20 times. Most of the times, the police threatened me, even beating me several times. This time, when I received a good summons. I don’t feel scared, I know that reporting the incident in Dong Tam, or earlier in Duong Noi, may make the government unhappy and treat them as threatening acts. to the security of the regime.”
Trinh Ba Phuong, a young activist, said: “In my mind, I have prepared every situation, including arrest. When they arrest me, it means the authorities are worried. fear of the voice of the people. And I will act to the end to protect the right to freedom of speech, and to speak about injustices and crimes with public opinion in the country and internationally. “
And Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hanh recalled the move, from a person she had previously described as “loving the party,” becoming a social activist and a thorn in the eyes of the government:
“In 2007, I was one of the people who took to the streets to protest against China. Back then, I was still very ‘in love with the party,’ which can be said to be worshiping the party. By 2011, I also took to the streets and participated in almost In those days, I decided to go to the streets to fight against China, not against the Party, but when I was arrested, I was surprised, why I was against China. So I went online to find out. At first, I was shocked, I lost my balance too. But once I knew it, I couldn’t help but join. “
“From the moment I stepped down the anti-China protest street, until I set up a 50k fund and until now, I have always determined that one day I will be arrested, like the prisoners I am currently trying to help, even though they were overwhelmingly mentally torturing me, I still felt normal, because I had already determined it.”
“If I had to do it again, I would still follow the path I was taking,” Hanh said.
With Dong Tam’s crimes, the authorities have dealt a fatal blow to the grave of a barbarous communist regime in Hanoi.
What is particularly serious is that even the elderly, revolutionary revolutionary 84-year-old party member was killed by his comrades at home with 4 gruesome bullets.
As the Party treats each other like that, the people – the cruelty would certainly multiply.
