Two lawyers on March 3 said Bui Viet Hieu and Le Dinh Chuc were “still alive” and suffering some injuries after being arrested in the raid by Vietnam’s police force in Dong Tam commune in early January.

Hieu, 77, said in January he underwent three surgeries because of a duodenal perforation, a colon rupture and a metatarsal fracture, and he is currently wearing an artificial anal bag, according to lawyer Son.
More than 20 suspects, including Mr. Hieu, were charged with murder, illegal possession of weapons and objection against on-duty officials, lawyer Son said.
