The British Embassy in Hanoi on February 23 announced the closure of the Visa Application Center in the context of high COVID-19 infections in the Vietnamese capital.
“Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK Visa Application Center in Hanoi is temporarily closed from February 22, 2022, until further notice,” the British embassy wrote on Facebook.
The British Embassy said the Centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang remain open.
It is reported that the UK Visa Application Center reopened the Visa Application Center in Hanoi at the end of August last year after a long period of closure due to COVID-19.
VnExpress reported that Hanoi topped the list of COVID-19 infections in Vietnam for more than a month with nearly 7,000 cases per day.
According to VnExpress, Hanoi has recorded more than 210,000 cases and 864 deaths in the fourth outbreak since April last year.
This online newspaper reported that Vietnam had allowed commercial flights to 20 of the 28 countries where Vietnam had direct flights before the pandemic, including the UK.
According to the Vietnam Government Portal, from 4:00 p.m. on February 23 to 4:00 p.m. on February 24, the National COVID-19 Case Management System recorded 69,128 new infections nationwide with Hanoi taking the top spot with 8,864 shifts.
