Ho Chi Minh relic in Germany abandoned

September 1, 2024

67 years ago, on July 29, 1957, Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh visited Vietnamese students (communist princelings) studying in Moritzburg village, Sachsen state, former East Germany (GDR). The school then built a small relic, in which there is a bronze plaque commemorating the day Ho Chi Minh visited.

Recently, on the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day September 2, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany organized a delegation of embassy officials and staff led by Ambassador Vu Quang Minh to visit this place on August 31.

The images show that the Ho Chi Minh relic is abandoned, overgrown with grass and trees, and no one takes care of it (see photo 2).

The bronze plaque commemorating the relic has been removed and put in storage for a long time (when needed to take a photo, it is brought out), two embassy staff had to lift it up by hand when taking photos (see photo 1).
