To Quyen, the father of incumbent Vietnamese communist leader To Lam, was just a Police Colonel. His highest position was a provincial police chief. He died in 1996, 30 years ago. Perhaps the name To Quyen would have been forgotten if he had been a Colonel like many other colonels of his time. Talking about the rank of Police Colonel, there are countless in this country. However, now, Vietnam communist regime suddenly organized a very grand musical program praising the “unknown” Colonel, for what reason?
The program was named “Remaining Memories” by the General Director and Choreographer Tuyet Minh, the purpose was to honor To Lam’s father and praise the contributions he made on the land of Tay Ninh.
After 1975, it has been 50 years now, the Government suddenly organized a program praising a Police Colonel who died 30 years ago. What an unusual case. This is considered a campaign to sanctify an official who gave birth to the current “king” of Vietnam.
According to internal information, Tran Luu Quang – from Tay Ninh, is currently the person supported and built by To Lam as a reserve Prime Minister to replace Pham Minh Chinh. This also has its reasons.
It is known that Quang is similar to Vo Van Thuong and Phan Van Mai, these people have unclear paternal backgrounds but have been given a rapid career path. The reason is said to be that these people are the illegitimate children of former high-ranking officials. In this regime, without a background, one will never be able to become a low-ranking official at the ward level, let alone at the central level like the three men mentioned above.
Quang was born when To Quyen went to the South to work, and To Quyen lived and worked in Tay Ninh. Later, Quang was supported at a rapid pace at the right time when To Lam became the right-hand man for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. And after being transferred continuously, Quang is now living under the same roof as To Lam – the Secretariat of the party.
The fact that To Quyen was praised like that is no different from the campaign to turn Nguyen Sinh Sac into a saint in the past. In January 1910, in a drunken rage, Nguyen Sinh Sac used a rattan cane to punish and beat a prisoner to death. This prisoner’s family sued him and Nguyen Sinh Sac was fired. However, through the slave historians of the regime, Nguyen Sinh Sac “was dismissed from office because of his patriotism, his outspokenness, and his opposition to the superiors and the French colonialists.” Actually, he was fired because he treated the people brutally.
Wherever there is a movement to worship individuals, to deify leaders, to deify the leader’s family, there cannot be positive energy. Those places will be dark, poor, and backward countries. North Korea, Cuba, and Vietnam are examples.
The campaign to glorify To Quyen was carried out by the Ministry of Public Security. This is considered as the direction of To Lam and possibly Tran Luu Quang’s participation.
To Lam launched this campaign, which shows that To Lam still has the same mentality as many other Communist leaders, still likes to praise and like to be deified.
A king who likes flattery will never be a wise king, that dynasty certainly cannot develop.
Once the king is like that, the culture of flattery in the regime will also have a chance to rise. Recently, a poet also demonstrated his talent for flattery with the poem “Hung Yen flies up”. With such “material,” it is unclear how To Lam will build an “era of rising”?
